About Me

My passion for creating started as a small girl in my mother’s studio in North Bend, Ohio. My grandmother was a prolific hand quilter and every child, grandchild and great grandchild has a quilt or two from her. My mother’s remarkable mixed media (sewing, wood and painting) Christmas crafts can be found in homes all over Ohio during the holiday season. I made my first quilt in college as a wedding gift for my sister-in-law. In 2010 I began seriously piecing and machine quilting, falling in love with ruler work.

During the season of my kids growing up, my tucked into the corner of the basement “studio” was full of Halloween costumes, school play costumes, and Prom & Homecoming Gowns. I would squeeze the occasional software project in for machine embroidery with my friends. My mom and I met for classes at a studio in Kettering, Ohio for many years.

In 2016 I began longarm quilting and have developed expertise in free motion, edge to edge and custom quilting through automation using a combination of Ruler Work, the Qmatic and the Art & Stitch software. Initially, I couldn’t piece projects fast enough to keep having fun quilting so I began quilting for others. My husband helped me figure out a way to rearrange my sewing room and didn’t grumble as my projects tumbled out into the rest of the basement onto the Ping pong table, the living room table and beyond.

We were so blessed to build a new home in 2019 and I now have a full studio dedicated to quilting, machine embroidery and digitizing software as well as the occasional Halloween project for my beautiful granddaughters. I began offering virtual classes from my studio, allowing my students from all over the state and beyond to take classes from the comfort of their homes.

I have a passion for quilting and love seeing masterpieces come to life with the icing on the cake—the quilting. Both freehand and automation equip me with the tools to customize quilt tops.

I have more than a decade of experience teaching a variety of beginner, advanced and intermediate quilting, piecing and software classes. Software and the creative freedom it provides is a passion which I enjoy sharing with others. For three years I taught monthly classes for a software club of 36+ members. I regularly teach in person classes, multi-day workshops, retreats and virtual courses. Watching light bulbs come on when students have “aha” moments is one of my favorite things. I have taught digitizing and software embroidery, as well as led block of the month courses and have developed many “in-the-hoop” projects to teach students how to use basic and advanced digitizing in Premier Plus and Premier Plus 2 Ultra.

My training includes the AQPS Longarm Certification (2020) as well as completion of the Advanced Art & Stitch Course at the Bernina Creative Center. I routinely seek out additional training, and have taken in person and virtual courses with Amanda Murphy, Karlee Porter, Marilyn Stromwatt, and Betty Stoltenberg.

My software retreat and workshop approach include hands-on step-by-step lessons on the computer and then taking the newly learned skill to the machine and stitching it out. All of my courses, workshops and retreats include detailed “take-home” instructions to help students remember the skills they’ve gained.
